Worst Book You have ever had the displeasure of reading

For me it would have to be any of the books in the "Flowers in The Attic" series by V.C. Andrews

The first book was pretty meh but each book that followed got worse and worse, and my sick need for closer made me power through them.
The woman can't seem to make her characters evolve at all. The way they are written when they are 11 are the same way they are written when they are 36.

She loves ending ever sentence in exclamation points! To the point were they lose all effect.

She also writes every character as a complete whore or a sick stalker who can't move on with their lives.

She also falls into the trap of making characters impossibly beautiful, every single character needs a 9 sentence paragraph describing how wonderful they look. This would not be that big of a deal but they do it 15 times for every character. If you took out character descriptions all her 200 page books would be 5 page pamphlets about being overly dramatic.

Twilight comes in a close 2nd

The Elder Gods by David and Leigh Eddings is a steaming pile of crap.Apparently they are actually good authors but I refuse to read anythings else by them, because when someone serves you piss instead of beer you don't go back for more.

Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.

You take a character and turn him into the animal that his personality most represents (a cockroach), see how shitty his life is as a cockroach, hear him talk about how shitty his life was before that and you expect me to feel sorry for such a character?

I'm not sure about worst, but I couldn't even get past the 3rd chapter of P.S. I Love You. I thought it was so badly written, it drove me up the wall. So yeah, I didn't like it I guess.

Since I live in Mississippi I had to read the worst book I have ever read for school. Coming of Age in Mississippi. Ugh just bad.

Fairest, a lame spin off of Ella Enchanted about Snow White instead. So horribly bland and worst of all it's set in the 'land of song' so all the characters randomly break out into song. Singing is like sex, if it can't be described well, don't describe it at all.

Twilight series....I just hated it so much, and I'm not just saying it to go along with the haters or anything. Here are a few things that drove me nuts.

1: Bella has no reason to like Edward. He treats her like crap early on, tells her they shouldn't be near each other. Yet she still wants to be around him... well, because he is hot and mysterious. She falls for him just for his looks. What a weak minded character.

2: Telling you're GF/BF that you would rather die than not be with them, that they simply cannot live without you, is NOT romantic....it is an insane and completely unhealthy thing to say. And yet teenage girls swoon over that crap.

3: Edward is a stalker....sneaking into her room and watching her sleep before they even started going out. In later books, he even disables her car to prevent her from seeing her friends. Their relationship is borderline abusive, IMO.

4: Edward's good looks are constantly being talked about, it goes on and on about how perfect he looks. He is good looking, we get it.....move on.

5: The vampires sparkle in sunlight. They drive nice cars. Way to fuck up 100 years of vampire mythology, Meyer.

6: Cheesy love lines from Edward that stupid fangirls wet themselves to.

7: In the final book, Bella gets pregnant from Edward. How did this happen? The vampires don't have functioning body fluids. They never have to use the bathroom, thier hearts do not beat. Lazy writing.

Dude I'm wondering If you disliked so much this series why are you STILL reading them??? I would read the first book and just gave up on the series, just like i did with "Interview with the vampire". And don't get me wrong I watched the movie "Twilight" and I agree with you on every point(except 5 - vampire mythology have more than 700 years) you made here. But thing is that "Twilight" is series of Girls Books, and Girls Movies - they don't need to have any sense - there are beautiful sparkling and super powerful vampires, there is love from first sight, and there is danger and self sacrifice - all the things that chicks dig.
In my humble opinion 99,9% of women writers can't write good books about vampires because they write how coursed the vampires are, and how their life is bad, and about their love problems(they can't love, or they love to much) and all that bullshit that makes book about vampires(witch supposed to be horrors) a drama/romance.

I know only one women writer that wrote good books of vampires her name is Magdalena Kozak, she is a local polish writer, and she is the only women that really puts some good action, story, and characters in her books.

No I'm just being realistic, there are things women do better than man, and things that man do better than women - most of women write bad vampire books/stories just like most of man write bad romance.

Setting aside your assertion that most women can't write good vampire novels, the rest of your comment is somewhat unsettling:

""Twilight" is series of Girls Books, and Girls Movies - they don't need to have any sense - there are beautiful sparkling and super powerful vampires, there is love from first sight, and there is danger and self sacrifice - all the things that chicks dig."

Let me clarify: I know many women who do not 'dig' Twilight. Some of them enjoy reading it for the unitnentional hilarity, but many I have spoken to hate the fact that Meyer portrays her main character as a mysogonistic stereotype who goes crazy at the prospect of not being with some abusive guy. If you had said that young girls dig Twilight, then I would sadly have to agree with you, as this kind of garbage is par for the course for an audience that is too young to know any better.
