well then you really have nothng to worry about because it has the formula of the original sonic game with a little mixers up with means it there might be some interesting things in the game. and yea story does matter because it can effect game play and the when sonic adventure 1 and 2 it was the story that got its review and if a story is not good they will give it a only decent score
What killed Sonic in the first place, I think, was the attempt to introduce puzzles in a game based on going as fast as you possibly can. Puzzles force you to stop, and break the flow of speed based game. So long as they keep away from that it should be fine.
Sonic Unleashed looks really promising. Everything I've seen for Unleashed reminds me of the Adventure games from the Dreamcast, and I loved those. Unleashed even makes me wish I wasn't just a PC gamer and owned a console system. Another anticipated title for Sonic, to me at least, is Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for DS. Yes, I realize it is an RPG, that just makes it more alluring to me since I love strategy games.
There's always a chance, but Sonic never takes that chance, they keep defaulting back to the same design. The design is dead, Sonic still has a chance.
