If it's crap... We'll tell you

Hello all,

Its been awhile since i've been on here, but i'm finally back...i got the chance to check out the new Dark Knight film and its nothing short of a 10...a classic for sure. I left the film with my friends asking the question...who was the better joker...jack nicholson or Heath Ledger????....I'm pretty sure this question has already been asked but i thought i would throw it out there...any old hoot....i myself think they were both great for their movies , both had their moments and both have some memorable lines...but if i had to pick...this newer one is much more darker, not right in the head yet makes perfect sense at the same time (if that makes any sense lol)

Mannn this has been a great year for movies....so far :D

PS...i want to save the the spill crew the trouble of reviewing Disaster movie(when its released that is)...and take a wild guess and say its gonna be some old Bulls#@$...wait..why guess....I KNOW.....lol

til next time

Jack Nicho-who?? No disrespect to Jack, but Ledger blew him out of the God damned water.

When you're watching Jack Nicholson's Joker you're watching Jack Nicholson as The Joker having a grand old time with himself.

When you're watching Heath Ledger's Joker you're not watching an actor indulge himself, you're watching the motherfucking Joker being a God damned maniac.

As far as I'm concerned it WAS THE JOKER playing himself in the movie. That's what he should have always been like. It's not even a fucking close match between Jack and Heath. Heath Ledger was absolutely brilliant in this film.

Jack Nicholson played Jack Nicholson wearing makeup.

Heath Ledger didn't play the Joker. He fucking WAS the Joker. He was the definitive portrayal of scariest super-villain ever created.

I loved Tim Burton's Batman and I still do. It's a very entertaining Batman film. Is it flawed? Of course, but so is Batman Begins and even The Dark Knight. I know, I know, I'm sure there is a group of Nolan fanatics standing outside my house with pitchforks right now. I liked Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but I'm not worshiping those films.

As Chig stated, Jack Nicholson really wasn't stretching his acting muscles while playing The Joker. He pretty much played a darker more twisted version of the Caesar Ramiro Joker. Which worked perfectly at the time. The Joker has changed as a character over the years, becoming even more sick and crazed.

I do think Heath Ledger completely transformed himself into a different person while playing The Joker. But honestly, I wasn't blown away by his performance. At times Heath's delivery of lines (slow with an over emphasis on certain words)sound a bit like Nicholson. I also felt that the character was too reserved in certain scenes and depended too much on his physical appearance to come across as creepy. I think I wanted more energy from the performance, but no real person can capture the Joker's frantic movements from the comics.

Of course the better Joker is Heath Ledger. The man clearly busted his ass in the role. Though I wasn't the biggest fan of his portrayal, I'll gladdly admit as an actor Heath put much more into it.

I think it's kind of funny how people say that Heath Ledger's Joker is so much darker and demented than Jack Nicholson's but Jack's Joker has a much larger body count. Goes to prove it's quality not quantity.

I knew going into this that Jack Nicholson's interpretation was dated. Sure, the Joker has gone through any number of changes, but the difference between Heath and Jack is that one disappears into his role, while the other is almost doing a parody of himself.

Heath Ledger was incredible as The Joker.

Well from what I've heard Heath Ledger is supposed to be pretty damn good in the new batflick. But until I see it I'll have to say Jack Nicholson.

The Dark Knight team really took time to understand Joker, giving him the little touches that bring the character to life, while Burton wasn't really interested in creating anything more than a freak.

Heath Ledger, easily.

Ledger wins every time this question is asked(alot). Considering Ledger just died and his movie just came out and everyone is in love with it, this is a little biased. In spite of all that... Ledger was better. I hated Nicholson's joker when I was still 4.
