I went to the IMAX showing at Midnight. I have to say, this was an emotional roller coaster. I know it's cliche`, but really, that's the best analogy for this movie; that and The Empire Strikes Back. If you consider Batman Begins the pinnacle of superhero movies the same way Star Wars was for sci-fi, consider this The Empire Strikes Back of superhero movies. This movie puts the "dark" in the Dark Knight, in almost every possible way. So much so, no kids should see this unless they have a mother figure with tissue in her purse. They will definitely have nightmares. But as for you grown folks, go right ahead. But you might need Zoloft afterwards.
As for performances: Bale did a solid job in this movie, as well as everyone who was in the first movie. Gary Oldman plays a much more significant role here, and you really see plenty of surprises from him. And then there's of course, Heath Ledger as The Joker. I have to say this about his performance: it was so good, I couldn't tell that was him in that makeup. He disappeared into his character, and it was easily his best performance of any film. All the Oscar buzz is pretty warranted, in my opinion, and he should at least be nominated posthumously. And on a side note, I think the film itself deserves a nomination. And Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent / Two-Face deserves so much more credit than it's given. Eckhart was just as equally complex as Ledger was, and I think he steals the show, especially during the third act. And Two-Face is a scary looking mf'er.
Overall, I say this movie is worth paying full price to see, and it is definitely one of those movies that is top tier in regards to superhero movies. I actually think this is in my top 3.
It really isn't that good I found that the original movie begins more enjoying. Batman Begins that is.
Heath did do a good job, but I mean I don't feel like he is the only one that can play that part, and that is really due to the fact that his act was so good cause that script is so solid.
People often compare his joker to Jack's joker and I really don't think you can. There completely different characters, even though they are the same characters. One a more dark mature joker, while another a less threathening joker. AGAIN this isn't Jack fault cause it wouldn't of fit in with burton style of batman. And this is coming from someone who hates jack.
Either way Aaron and Heath both did a great job. I really don't like the whole "He disappeared into his character" but what I think you meant was that little trace of his personality could be associated with the joker, unlike jack who is basically the same person in every role.
I don't warrant any oscar talk. Not until i see everyone performances, just really saying oh heath better get one is bullshit. Just wait and see.
This movie was amazing. The entire cast was brilliant! Ledger...........there are no words. He was that good as Joker. His performance left me in awe. He's gonna get the nom and the win at the Oscars next year! This movie just gets better and better. Too long nothing! (Spill Crew!) Fastest two hours of my life! Best movie of '08, no question about it.
i didnt think the joker was good till the scene before the interrgation room that's when i started believe heath derseves a oscar all and all better then the orginal batman and iron man put together
Saw the midnight showing. This really is more like a crime drama movie that happens to have a superhero and a phycopath in it, and it works. This movie makes you feel like no one is safe, and they arent' Great film, but if you see any small kids in the theatre they won't be there by the end of the movie.
