If it's crap... We'll tell you

Does anyone like these damn things? Seriously, if there is a gamer out there who can honestly tell me they like escort missions, come forward. I'd like to know why.

Why does everyone hate these things anyway? For me, it's just that I'm selfish. I don't want to look out for some stupid A.I. that runs into walls when I have to worry about not getting my own ass shot/chopped to pieces/etc.

Why do you hate escort missions? Or don't hate, if there is even such a person.

You listed the reason above: The A.I. is stupid.

We hate them because the A.I. is always the reason we die in the mission. They run into walls, they jump into the middle of a battle where ammunition is being let off, they jump in front of cars getting run over.

We never really say: "Damn, that was my fault, let me restart the mission."
We just say "F*%&^* A.I.!!! Piece of $&^*!"

I wouldn't mind looking over another human player, because they know what they are doing. But when your looking over an A.I., you have to worry more about the A.I. than the actually enemies themselves.

Nice topic though lol, I hate those damn missions.

Fuck escort missions.
Another thing I really don't enjoy in games are underwater levels. This might just be me but I get a claustrophobic feeling and just.... idk.... don't like it.

Wow. You must have loved the last Big Shell scenario in MGS2...where you gotta escort Emma underwater. ^_^

TRUE THAT! IT HAS BOTH! i personally was happy to see her get shanked

I especially hate it when games have cut scenes that are way too long and worst of all, they cannot be skipped.

I looove long cut scenes.. that is if they are actually interesting. But, being an FPS fan, I rarely play games with an immersive storyline, and the cutscenes tend to be complete shit on top of that.

Gears of War is the only shooter I can recal that had great cutscenes and just enough story to let me know who needed killing, why, and where they were. Too much story in shooters just holds up the action. Like in Halo 2, took itself waaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously

Halo's writers are just pricks. They couldn't come up with a story if they had a storyrboard full of ideas notes in front of them.

I can't blame them for trying to be epic but, Halo is not the right game for a deep story. Everyone wants to blow up shit not watch aliens talk about politics.

I know... I hate saying I like Halo... I feel dirty every time I say it.

Halo CE was perfect. You knew what was going on and had the weapons to make stuff happen. When the flood came out I was honestly surprised probably because it was still the time when companies didnt bombard you with info on thier game before release.

MGS is guilty of this though, everytime I try to play that game the cutscenes are annoying as hell. I've got over 600 DVDs in my house, when i play my games, i want to play it, not watch the shit.

At least you can skip the cutscenes, although frankly Kojima is an artist when it comes to these and I don't mind watching them. Although I am partial to playing MGS while I have a lot of time.
