We all know that sometimes playing with a known formula turns out okay, even great, there are good movies that albeit formulaic work pretty well. But goddamit, sometimes those formulas create the most boring movie experiences. So, in your opinion, what cliches you just whish the Hollywood machine would stop using?
I thought the whole point of the villain sharing his plan was the fact no mere henchman can appreciate his plan due to their inferior comprehension of it, and the hero is the closest thing the villain has to an "equal."
It might seem like a stretch, but that's the impression I get when it comes to most movies where hero and villain seem to be on a level playing field.
see, I agree with this, but come on. If it were me, I'd just shoot the guy in the leg first or remove all his limbs THEN tell him my plan as he sat there helpess.
Te last episode of x files had a scene similar to that.:
CSM: It's a scary story. You want to come sit on my lap?
SCULLY: You don't scare me.
CSM: My story's scared every president since Truman in '47.
MULDER: You don't have to hear this.
SCULLY: No, I want to hear it, Mulder.
CSM: Ten centuries ago the mayans were so afraid that their calendar stopped on
the exact date that my story begins. December 22, the year 2012. The date of
the final alien invasion. Mulder can confirm the date. He saw it at Mount
Weather ... ...where our own "Secret Government" will be hiding when it all
comes down.
(SCULLY looks at MULDER. He doesn't take his eyes off of CSM. CSM has a wild
glint in his eye - almost a crazed look.)
MULDER: Yeah, you smile ... feeling drunk with power. The power to do nothing.
CSM: My power comes from telling you. Seeing your powerlessness hearing it.
They wanted to kill you, Fox. I protected you all these years ... waiting for
this moment ... to see you broken. Afraid.
(MULDER lifts his head and schools his features to reveal nothing.)
ha..." you just missed the (girl or boy) and (he or she) is flying out right now ...if you leave now you might be able to stop (him or her) from leaving"
Ive seen at least 50 movies with this...its so cliche it just hurts. Someone is always leaving to go to the airport right at the moment when someone wants to profess some lovin'...no not an hour later or a day later, or hell a day before its always at that exact moment.
come on atleast take the train or a fucking bus...
I was kind of annoyed with this in the triple x movie. When everyone seems to have "known it all along".
"I knew you were gonna attack this place, so I went undercover."
"Well I knew you were undercover the whole time." (and on and on....)
That kind of thing.
Oh and when everyone has to one-up each other. Though some times it's funny, other times it's just annoying when everyone does it and you just expect it to happen.
1) They dislike eachother/are just friends/ dont know eachother
2) Get to know eachother, but one of the characters starts out because they are deceiving the other person
3) Actually fall in love
4) Character who was being deceiptful is caught
5) Misunderstanding- stop talking to eachother
6) Long speach/ shpeel about how person who was deceipful is actually in love
7) Come back together, live happily ever after.
