If it's crap... We'll tell you

I just realized how many movies have been below par and failed to meet expectations lately. Spiderman 3, shrek 3, pirates 2, pirates 3, live free or die hard(for some), Xmen 3, terminator 3, matrix 3(for some), transformers, the list goes on and on. Big budget movies have just been sucking a lot lately, so I want to know, which one left you with the most disappointment? It doesnt have to be recent, any movie you ever saw and walked out feeling betrayed or confused as to what the hell they were thinking.

I was debating between spiderman and xmen, I thought xmen for awhile but I had doubts before it was released, ratner and all. Spidey had the same director and all that so I was expecting great things no matter what, then it just surprises you with how awful it is. I didnt know if I liked it or not while I was watching it, sort of felt different than the other two. Then the butler came in, and I knew it was inferior at that point.

Fantastic four was also a letdown, I was hoping for the next spiderman, sadly we all know how that turned out.

Transformers was just.....agh. I never thought my main complaint from this movie would be the lack of well done action scenes. The first few were okay, then all of sudden in the final battle what happens!?!? The entire thing is spent with the camera on Sam witwicky or some other human no one cares about as the transformers are just sort of in the background, randomly firing lasers and smashing into buildings but you cant see it! Then theres that waste of money and time frenzy, god that pissed me off. God, 30 minutes in line and holding your urge to go to the bathroom midway through the film and for what?

Surprisingly enough for me, 3:10 to Yuma was a letdown. So many times I heard how great it was and how it was a refresher from the awful flicks lately, please. I liked it, it was okay. Christian bales character though, man he was BORING! Ben Wade I didnt like much, which is probably why I dont like this film. Every review ive seen pretty much implies that this movie is relying on you to fall in love with the Russel Crowe character, im afraid this didnt happen.

Dont even get me started on 2001 ASO, I was expecting the greatest movie of all time and got a live action slideshow of paintings and fancy colors all tied together with some bad classical music. I dont think symbolism alone makes a good movie sadly.

What is your biggest letdown so far?

Without a moments doubt Spider-Man 3 was the biggest movie disappointment in my entire life.

Stephen King's It was a huge letdown for me. All through my years at elementary school I was told that this was the scariest movie on the face of the earth. I finally saw it in seventh grade, didnt scream/jump/cry once, I was thinking "What the hell? I wasted my childhood imagining how scary this movie is and this is all they got?" Dead Silence was a big letdown too. Being a man who is terrified of dummies (I loved goosebumps as a kid, lets leave it at that), I wanted to die of fright during that movie. It was not scary at all, but it was a very good concept.

Biggerst Dissapointment would pirates 3 or Rush hour 3, well actually its Rush Hour, I knew pirates was going b long and boring. Rush hour was ridiculous, Rush hour 1 was a great moment in my like it was my first kung fu movie, I loved it I wanted be Jackie Chan at time, I was fulll of youth innocent, now I feel like I was slapped a t the face by brett ratner

See, this gets to the heart of the matter. I've noticed that when people are asked what the worst movies of all time are they tend to name those that most disappointed them. For instance, some people will say Titanic. Lot of hype there, then they see it and they feel it just didn't live up to it. But clearly it is definitely NOT one of the worst movies of all time. There are many examples.

It's hard for me to answer this because I tend to prepare myself before I go to the theatre. I tend to have a reasonable expectation. Across the Universe generally got bad reviews, so though I had high hopes for it, I wasn't really disappointed because I knew what to expect.

What a boring logical way to answer the question. How about this:

Dude, when I heard Julie Taymor was directing a visual extravaganza using all Beatles music I was in a constant state of ecstacy. I watched the trailor so many times I grew bored with it. And lo, the film was less than a mesmerizing spectacle, dashing my hopes and leaving my soul with a hole in it the size of a bomb crater. Head hanging low I went home, unable to fathom the depth of loss I felt.

Fantastic Four 2 - I liked the first one ok? I knew it was going to be corny, but I didn't expect it to be outright stupid.

Matrix Reloaded - I don't know weather to call it disappointment or just plain shock, but Matrix Reloaded is definitely the biggest shock I ever had going to the movies. Sure, it started out interesting, but then it kinda.... went crazy on me. I wasn't disappointed by Revolutions because after Reloaded at least I knew what to expect.

Shrek 3:: Just not funny. I didn't laugh once.

Alien Resurrection: Probably the second biggest disappointment in my life.
