If it's crap... We'll tell you

Okay everybody! So Ben Stiller (who already directed movies like "Zoolander" and "Cable Guy") has a new movie coming up soon this year called "Tropic Thunder".
Since I want to spare you guys a lengthy description I just give you the Trailer links..

So what's the big deal with this movie? Robert Downey Junior is! Yes, RDJ is playing an actor, who takes his commitment to acting too serious (as well as himself) and (in order to play a black role) "turns" himself into a black man.
This causes some uproar as some see in this the descriminating depiction of a white person of a black man also known as Black Face (here Al Johnson portraying a black man)

Others say that this actually doesn't apply to this role, because RDJ is playing a white actor, who plays a black man, which obviously mocks actors and not white ppl.
I only have to say that, whether or not this qualifies as a BF, the make up looks amazing on RDJ and the artist, who made it, did an amazing job of turning a white man into a black guy (guess we are all the same after all^^).

But on the other hand I am white myself, so what do I know? XD

I dont think Ben Stiller is racist, but then again, my name is zoolander....

But seriosly, theyre just trying to be funny. Not trying to affend anyone I would think

Yeah, you are kinda biased. XD But yes, I actually share your opinion. After all, this is suppossed to mock actors, not black ppl. And we have already seen black actors as "White Chicks" or Eddie Murphy in a fat suit (eventhough I don't know if this actually a good comparisson^^).
It's comedy, so it shouldn't be taken serious to begin with.

Im not biased, your just calling me that because your jelouse of me being really really good looking :)

IIRC white chicks kinda did the stereotype of ditsy blonde but from the trailer it doesnt look like rdj is doing any "Oh Hell Nawz" so id say this movie isnt trying to affend anyone.

Mel Gibson cast Jews in his films and has often associated with them (i.e. any Hollywood producer). That doesn't really mean anything.

Just for the sake of discussing it. If you don't know, that is what threats are for. Besides maybe someone has a diffrent opinion, which would be interesting to hear. Just because I think of something one way, doesn't mean I am not open for diffrent opinions.

I don't know, on the one hand it's comedy so I don't take it seriously but if it's bad comedy than it could end up being a wrong move. We'll just have to see how it turns out in the movie.

Interestingly enough, that is kinda what RDJ said himself:

"If it's done right, it could be the type of role you called Peter Sellers to do 35 years ago. If you don't do it right, we're going to hell."

I think, as for the visual part of the whole thing, I am actually very impressed by the make up. It is really well done and I had at first a hard time to recognizing him. But maybe I just was happy to see more then 1 black man playing in a movie j/k. XP

Deep down we all wish we were black...what's wrong with that?

2 words. Mel Brooks.

Three words. What about him? Is it about the N*random sound* joke from Blazing Saddles?^^

mel brooks is only 2 words. saying 2 words qualifes the statement. not just blazing saddles but history of the world also. nobody will really care unless it really is racist.

Mel Brooks said it himself. "I'm the only jew who made money off Hitler."
