UNBREAKABLE - with Bruce Willis as the superhero-to-be but he didn't know it yet. Directed by M. Night Shymalan. The movie would have been a masterpiece if it wasn't for the lackluster ending.
The movie didn't have to end with captions explaining how Bruce Willis's character called the police and had him arrested. It could have gone to any other ending other than this. In fact, I would have preferred it to fade away knowing that he has an arch enemy and this could leave it in a cliffhanger style equal to the comic books. To be continued... in further sequels. I thought it was a lazy conclusion to a worthwhile and fun movie.
oh... I thought you meant it was a bad ending because of the "plot twist" ending.
I agree is was pretty lazy. but, if you think about it, the film started with captions.
I guess M.Night wanted to end with captions.
And in a way it was a cliffhanger, the villain is in prison. he can always break out.
but i don't think a sequel would have been good...
It would be difficult to top the first plot twist.
sorry, im don't mean to argue, I totally see your points.
but, i just don't feel that the ending was that bad.
No worries. I felt that since this was a "superhero" origin story, it should continue on in the same fashion as a comic book, so why not a sequel, at least continue on the story. I'm pretty sure more people would be fascinated by Willis's character discovering more of his powers, a la HEROES, and Mr. Glass figuring out ways to stop him. I don't know, it left me wanting more, but not in the abrupt ending that it did.
