Alright, let's have it. Bring out your old New Wave groups from the 1980's that you actually enjoyed listening to.
I'll start us off with three from my favorite New Wave, Adam Ant.
What can I say. For some reason, I really did enjoy Adam Ant's music when I was young. Okay, granted during the "New Wave" movement I was only like 10-14yrs old, so it's not like I really had a lot of "experience" in music at the time.

Think that musically, Tears for Fears picked the wrong way to go with the lyrics. For some reason, going with the "New Wave" sound didn't quite do the lyrics justice. When Gary Jules slowed it down, it had more "impact" as a song and resonated a bit more with people. The rest of Gary's stuff, I've not really been all that impressed with. Sort of hear-once-and-forget type of stuff for me personally.

What happened to Thompson Twins? For awhile they were sort of the "Top bands" and then sort of fell off the face of the Earth. What's sad, is this is one of the few songs that seemed to "survive" their time in the spotlight.
I found these guys long after the peak of the New Wave movement, never hearing of Split Enz until I moved to Australia. I never even thought about New Wave music coming from Down Under back then. I'v since bought most of their back catalog, even some of their vinyl presses.
They really didn't get much play where I lived before the Dare(?) album. And since I was a kid then I wasn't out scouring record shops for their older stuff. They got a lot more airtime after that. I remembe Mirror Man got airtime on the local R&B station.

Have to agree with the Lab Rat.
Human League's "breakthrough" to a lot of people (Especially in America) was "Don't you want me". I don't really recall their earlier stuff getting a lot of attention, and the ones that did know about their early stuff seemed to think less of it than "Don't you want me".
But like Lab Rat said, I was a kid at the time. So my group of friends weren't what you would call the "trendsetter" for radios and record sales. After all, a bunch of 11-12yr olds aren't going to be purchasing a bunch of records over the year.
