At what rate? How many movies are made a year and how many of them are in 3D? The MPAA says around 500 to 600 and those don't included unrated and indie films.
And maybe a dozen are in 3D. You're paying way too much attention to this "trend". If i try to think really hard I think there were 3 3D movies this year. Maybe 4. I've seen WAY over 50. So I don't think it's a big deal.
I'm going to Fantastic Fest at the end of the month and there's a presentation on the future of 3D movies and I'll be seeing upwards of 30 movies in that week. I don't think any of them are in 3D...
Underwhelming would be a better term, it didn't blow anyones socks off, but what does today. If this movie didn't take 14 years to finally be realized then it would prob have more "WOW" factor. What the trailer needed was more blue female alien ass.
Imagine its the mid 90's, this would be like asking Nintendo to stop putting 64 the end of most 64 games. I understand though, WHOA 3D this movie is worth it right off the bat, no but given enough time the term 3D for movies will become quaint, like calling FPS games Doom Clones.
Eh, 3D is just a gimmick that enhances the theater or viewing experience, and a way for movie businesses to make a quick buck. At least, it is optional.
No offense to the ladies out there anticipating Twilight but I just can't take it anymore, this is the group for all of the people who can not stand Twilight.
