Did you mean Slap shot?
I would add Rocky II and even the new Rocky Balboa which was, much to my surprise, completely wonderful.
Also up for nomination: Bad News Bears
When We Were Kings
Cinderella Man
Dogtown and Z Boys
Murderball
Raging Bull
Caddyshack Rollerball (The original of course) Hoop Dreams
Hoosiers
Breaking Away
The Endless Summer
Eight Men Out
The Longest Yard (Once again, the original) The Hurricane
I don't even like sports and I loved all these movies.

as a matter of fact, i saw my pick for the first time today. Now, you might not agree, but my favorite sports movie is King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. It followed all the guidelines of a sports movie yet manage to stay away from the ever repeated formula most sports movies follow today. Check it out.
Yes. Slap Shot. The Hanson brothers were some cool dudes and Paul Newman was the man of men. I cannot disagree with your list very much. All great movies. Only one is When we were Kings which I thought was slow and overhyped.

Why is it that when some beloved property actually gets to see to light of day in its relevant decade, somehow the studio manages to screw up the franchise with some ass backwards decision that makes the fans of the show/games/book grind their teeth…
